The Apology |
WITHOUT PREJUDICE
To Whom it May Concern,
My family, myself and past staff would like to make you aware of the current circumstances concerning the defamation of my family, myself, businesses (past & present) and staff members.
Currently a court case is under way to sue particular individuals that have been involved in defamatory behaviour, malicious actions, inappropriate comments and other types of incitement.
As a result of proceedings so far an apology (see image of apology letter below) has been provided by one of the individuals involved. Consequently the person who is the proprietor of the aforementioned business and associated with this behaviour has closed their business down (see image of home page blog below).
Presently we are obtaining the identities of individuals involved. Investigations so far clearly indicate that the majority of defamatory actions have come from a couple of individuals masquerading as a number of people under a variety of different names.
If you have information regarding the people involved in the defamation of my family, my name and businesses (past & present), whether that be verbally, in writing (or over the internet) or by other means please contact the solicitor as listed below:

Your knowledge regarding this behaviour is important. How far back your memory goes is not an issue. All of your information, even if it may seem irrelevant, is vital. We are gathering information from 1997 onwards.
Should any of the individuals described here have been in contact with you by email, paper mail, telephone, in person or by "chance" meeting (or phone calls) at your place of work, your home or in the "street" it is very important that the above solicitor be contacted.
Their actions have become dangerous and in some instances life threatening, hence it is essential the "veil of shadowy secrecy" and the anonymity this allows be removed quickly to prevent this from happening to others that they turn their focus to. No one should have to live under "lock and key" and constant tension. Our children have suffered under this constant barrage, during their most formative years for no good reason except that a small number of malicious individuals have nothing better to do with their time. We all have the right to live a normal and peaceful life.
It will take the responsible portion of the community to stop this form of adult and child bullying. If they have something to "say" then they can do so in a court room where neutral peers can judge the validity of their statements in a cohesive comprehensive and holistic atmosphere. That is where all the facts will be viewed, not as edited isolated instances presented out of context or in a fabricated manner.
Thank you for your time in regards to this matter. Perhaps you may wish to consider that this has occurred to an innocent, single mother and her individual family members simply as a result of "vicious gossip". There are consequences for this type of activity and individuals who behave like vigilantes can and will be made accountable.
If you would like to live in a kind, fair and appropriate community then this may be your opportunity to do something morally correct. No one should be treated in this manner (especially when it is the product of heresay).
We all have the right to stand against bullying and harassment, no matter what form it may come in.
Please notate that the Australian Laws regarding Defamation are very particular and are enacted swiftly.

Below is an abridged transcript of an apology from a website that published defamatory information about Universal Knowledge and Natasha Lakaev, (the actual scanned images of the document received follow afterwards).

In the period between 10 April 2007 and 8 March 2008, references to you and the company Universal Knowledge Pty Ltd (Universal Knowledge) appeared in blogs posted on www.australianblogger.com (the website).
You have alleged that the material contained in the blog posts conveyed imputations which were defamatory of you and Universal Knowledge.
Media Mouse at no time intended to convey such imputations against you or Universal Knowledge. Upon your request, Media Mouse removed the blogs from the website.
Media Mouse accepts that the material contained in the blog posts has caused you hurt and offence. To the extent that any material appearing on the website has caused you hurt or offence or upset in any way, Media Mouse would like to express its sincere regret and apologise for the publication of that material. Media Mouse would also like to extend the apology to any damage or harm to your reputation that may have resulted from the publication of the material.
Upon notification by Ms Lakaev, Media Mouse undertakes to remove any blogs or information concerning Ms Lakaev.
Media Mouse undertakes to publish and post this apology on the website forthwith and not to remove it for a period of 12 months without Ms Lakaev`s written consent. In addition to this undertaking, in the event that Media Mouse ceases to be the webhost of the website, Media Mouse will use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that a subsequent manager or webhost of the website allows the apology to remain on the website for 3 years. The apology is to be accessible via a link from the website homepage entitled "Apology to Natasha Lakaev".
Media Mouse authorises Ms Lakaev to publish this letter and apology to such persons and at such times as Ms Lakaev considers appropriate.

As the following attachment shows, the legal proceedings against this website has resulted in it's blogging functions being shut down. Hopefully this will set a precedent to put a stop to anonymous slander of individuals and companies on the internet. If you have something truthful to say then there should be no problem attaching your name to it.
PEOPLE WHO "CRY WOLF" ABOUT BEING IN A CULT
In research of cults many academics hold strong views and have conducted research on the strange behaviour of people who belonged to groups they claim to be cults. The following excerpts provide insight into the thinking of those few people who cry wolf of Universal Knowledge and Natasha Lakaev to cover up their own lies and inadequacies, yet do so much unnecessary damage with this behaviour. The following is an excerpt on such research:
The role of outspoken former members of groups they report as cults, has been widely studied by social scientists. Former members in some cases become public opponents against their former group. The former members' motivations, the roles they play in the anti-cult movement, the validity of their testimony, and the kinds of narratives they construct, are controversial with some scholars who suspect that at least some of the narratives are colored by a need of self-justification, seeking to reconstruct their own past and to excuse their former affiliations, while blaming those who were formerly their closest associates,[81] and that hostile ex-members would invariably shade the truth and blow out of proportion minor incidents, turning them into major incidents.
Scholars that challenge the validity of critical former members testimonies as the basis for studying a religious group include David G. Bromley, Anson Shupe, Brian R. Wilson, and Lonnie Kliever. Bromley and Shupe, who studied the social influences on such testimonies, assert that the apostate in his current role is likely to present a caricature of his former group and that the stories of critical ex-members who defect from groups that are subversive (defined as groups with few allies and many opponents) tend to have the form of -captivity narratives- (i.e. the narratives depict the stay in the group as involuntary). Wilson introduces the atrocity story that is rehearsed by the apostate to explain how, by manipulation, coercion, or deceit, he was recruited to a group that he now condemns. Introvigne found in his study of the New Acropolis in France, that public negative testimonies and attitudes were only voiced by a minority of the ex-members, who he describes as becoming -professional enemies- of the group they leave. Kliever, when asked by the Church of Scientology to give his opinion on the reliability of apostate accounts of their former religious beliefs and practices, writes that these dedicated opponents present a distorted view of the new religions, and cannot be regarded as reliable informants by responsible journalists, scholars, or jurists.
Legal action has commenced against other blog sites that have allowed duplication of the same defamatory material by the same small number of connected bullying people. So it is only a matter of time before the truth about who posted the defamatory information unfolds and their comments are proved to be bogus.
We sincerely apologise for you having to be subjected to this form confusing and misleading smear campaign designed to generate disharmony for no good reason.
When you consider what it is doing to this woman and her children it is a shame that the internet provides such a forum for anonymous harassment without having to stand by your accusations. Hopefully the results of the legal action will set a precedent for things to change in how people use the internet.
Below is a listing of some positive blogs, where people that know Universal Knowledge and Natasha Lakaev have aimed to correct the twisted information posted on the defamatory blog sites. Some of these positive blogs were lost off the internet when one of the defamatory blog sites was shut down.

Ok, so lets look at the facts. There have been approximately 20,000 people who have attended programs in the last 20 odd years. In 1985, there were four people that did not like what they heard/felt/experienced through Universal Knowledge. In 2007, five others have also decided they did not like what they heard/felt/experienced. So lets say 10 people have complained over the last 20 years thats 0.05% of the 20,000. Alright, so lets be generous and say 100 people have complained. Thats a total of 0.5%, not even one percent of the people who have been through the courses. Now its sounding a little ridiculous is it not? That all of this hooha is over a ridiculous 0.05% of people that have gone through these courses. Still not convinced? What if we hypothetically said that 1000 people had complained. Even with 1000 people that is only 5% of students. That means, that 95% of students have been either happy or ecstatic with their results. Not bad! I bet the Commonwealth Bank or Microsoft wouldn't mind having those odds. Oops, thats right, they have a whole department to deal with the number of complaints that they received. Cant you see its sour grapes gone crazy. You can not please all of the people all of the time! Look at the facts look at the reality!

From what I saw of my very recent experience with Universal Knowledge seems normal to me. I felt it when I did the last Next Evolutionary Step programme. You feel in safe hands to move through whatever you intend to by doing the work. I can understand why a person like Natasha would not want anything to do with style of behaviour. It's the total opposite of everything that comes through in the program content. You can try as many personal development programs as you like and I've got a few folders to prove I've done just that but I'm telling you...this Universal Knowledge stuff is definitely unique and will get you where you want to go quicker than anything else I've seen. Every person that I still keep in contact with now is buzzing along really well. The proof is in the pudding for me.

I'm a resident in this area, have been for 20 years. Natasha's gutsy, moves forward, doesn't care what anyone else thinks, does what she believes. 98% of the time it's accurate. Ive seen her help in community activities, give donations, only ever seen her prop up everything thats going on in the area, supporting people, building things for the safety of children. Have to assume that stupid Murwillumbah Resident has got to be one of those people that has been hounding her for years and it's the biggest talk through the community that this single mother who's done heaps for the community, her family and friends is being treated like this. As a male I'm totally impressed by what she's achieved and obviously chauvinism hasn't died yet otherwise this woman would be being applauded. Reading what I have so far on this blog site and other ones to do with A Current Affair and other bogus articles that have been put out about this woman, anyone with any education or intelligence or logic can see clearly that there is a lot of people who are very jealous and want to drag a the best and the tallest poppy. C'mon write your book, tell it from your perspective and make sure you name names! Hopefully she doesn't go shy, remains gutsy. We love having her in this area! She gives us all something to read about and she has the brightest nicest smile and can't a person just be a nice person? Whats everyones problem..why do we have to look at something negative when it's not there. .............

She's not harming anyone. A close friend gave her a magnet once which read well behaved women rarely make history. She's not interested in your thoughts or opinions. So here are a few facts: Natasha has literally saved people's lives, inspired many, pioneered new areas of human development, remained ture to her word and her clients, overcome terminal illness herself, survived many attempts by various factions to blacken her name and/or bring her to financial ruin, continued to teach and move forward, and while raising 3 children who are exremely healthy and well-adjusted. She continues to be an inspiration to those around her...........

I have been reading this blog with interest along with alot of other people it seems and I would say that I have had a number of business dealings with Natasha Lakaev and quite frankly enjoyed each and every interaction. My subsequent business dealings have also been highly professional, yet relaxed and friendly. I have found Ms Lakaev to be meticulous, ethical and extremely honest. I dont feel that a sound judgement can be made by the general public until you have met this woman in person. Why are people making claims against this woman that to me seem unsubstantiated. I truly hope they have something to back up their statements as I do not believe that Ms Lakaev would appreciate or necessarily tolerate this type of slander, especially when her life has already been laid out on the table in the past. Why not ask her yourself for an explanation? I did, and received a rather satisfactory response. It is such a shame that people who defend this woman with their honest feelings receive such barrage of abuse.... A pity really when the opportunity for freedom of speech is degraded to such petty tit for tat. Why not have an intelligent debate with the facts!

People have returned from this very program after being diagnosed HIV positive, only to find that their diagnosed disease has gone into remission. In response to this opinion, I would like to say that I have also completed the course called Personal Mastery, actually I have done it twice out of my own choosing, and have been involved with Universal Knowledge for the past 10 years. Am I in a cult and abused, controlled and negatively affected by this organisation? Well, if in this space of time, having created an amazing family, produced 2 beautiful children, built up my own business with limitless potential, grown up to become an aware and completely healthy, stable human being, living my life as I choose and please, having developed lifelong and invaluable friendships and connections puts me into the cult basket, there is something definitely amiss..
I say be mindful, be aware, find out the facts before believing the negativity of a few jealous parties. Universal Knowledge courses and the information gained has led me to experiencing a full, real, challenging and beautiful life unlike any other I could have imagined.
